Probability Calculator: At Least Once in N Tries

Updated 8 October 2026 · 5 minute read

“What are my chances in 5 rounds?” has three different answers: at least once, exactly so many times, and a streak. Type a chance and a number of tries and read all three. It opens on a 45% round tried 5 times.

Every try has the same chance and does not depend on the ones before it. Type the chance your own game or situation has: the starting figures are examples. A 1-in-6 chance is 16.67%.

5.03%chance it never happens in 5 tries
2.25times it happens on average in 5 tries
0 to 4times it happens in 5 tries, in 95 runs out of 100
1.85%chance of 5 in a row somewhere in 5 tries

In 5 tries with a 45% chance each, the chance that it happens at least once is 95.0%. On average it happens 2.25 times, and in 95 runs out of 100 it happens between 0 and 4 times. A streak of 5 in a row turns up somewhere in those tries 1.85% of the time.

Check it with pretend runs

Pretend runs make every try with a random number from your browser and the chance above, then count what happened. There is no money in it, and it is not any app’s game. The exact figures above never change; the pretend ones wobble from press to press, and that wobble is what chance looks like.

A chance is the share of times something happens out of 100. The box above opens on a round with a 45% chance, tried 5 times, and asks for the chance of at least one win. The 45% is made up: at the time of writing (8 October 2026) we could not read the odds of any Shree Win game, so change it to the figure your own screen states.

One example, six questions

Same chance, same five tries, six different answers:

The questionThe answer
At least one win95.0%
No win at all5.03%
Exactly 2 wins33.7%
3 wins or more40.7%
3 wins in a row somewhere19.1%
5 wins in a row1.85%

The first number is the big one, and the one quoted in chats. It is high because missing all five tries is only 5.03%. But at least once is not the same as ahead. If a win returned twice the stake, with no fee, five rounds need 3 wins to finish ahead, and that is 40.7%. One win in five still leaves you behind.

A streak you named and a streak somewhere

Three wins in a row are 1 chance in 11 if you name the three rounds first. Somewhere inside five tries the chance is 19.1%, a little over double, because the run can begin at the first, second or third try. The more tries, the wider the gap between the two questions. Mixing them up makes a run sound rarer, or commoner, than it is.

A K3 example: three dice

K3 is commonly described as three dice, so 216 equally likely results. We could not read Shree Win’s K3 Lotre rules, so treat this as an illustration. Any triple, all three the same, covers 6 of the 216 results, which is 2.78%. A named triple covers one, 0.46%.

RollsAny triple, at least onceA named triple, at least once
1024.6%4.53%
2043.1%8.86%
5075.6%20.71%
10094.0%37.13%
21699.8%63.30%

Even 216 rolls give a named triple only 63.3%. “1 in 216” is a chance for each roll. It never meant “once in every 216 rolls”.

A colour example

Take a colour that covers 4 digits of 10, so 40% (an illustration). The chance of showing at least once is 40.00% in 1 round, 64.00% in 2, 78.40% in 3, 92.22% in 5 and 99.40% in 10. Each extra round adds less than the one before. In those 10 rounds, exactly 4 colour rounds is 25.1%, and 3 in a row somewhere is 31.4%.

Using your own numbers

  1. Find the chance on the game’s rules screen and type it in per cent.
  2. Type the number of tries.
  3. Under “I want the chance that it happens”, choose at least once, exactly this many times, this many or more, this many or fewer, or never.
  4. Read the headline first, then the table under it.

Every try must have the same chance and must not depend on the last. The pretend-runs button at the foot draws random tries with no money in them, so you can watch the wobble that chance makes.

What it cannot tell you

It does not know any Shree Win tile’s odds, and it cannot see inside a platform. A high chance of at least one win says nothing about being ahead. For long strips of one result, use the streak calculator. For a record you already have, the win rate calculator asks whether luck explains it. The lottery guide describes the five tiles, and the tools page lists the rest.

A chance over many tries is bigger than it feels. Decide a limit on paper, and if you open Shree Win’s page, read its address bar.

Common questions

If something is 1 in 216, do 216 tries make it certain?

No. A named triple on three dice is 1 in 216, and 216 rolls give it a 63.3% chance of showing at least once. It takes 150 rolls to reach even odds, 50.15%, and 497 rolls to reach 90%, which is more than twice the 216 that the number seems to promise. Tries add up, but never to certainty.

Why is any triple so much likelier than a named triple?

Any triple covers six of the 216 results (all ones up to all sixes), and a named triple covers one. Over 20 rolls, any triple shows at least once with a chance of 43.1% and exactly once with 32.5%. A named triple shows at least once with a chance of only 8.86%. The calculator’s mode list lets you ask both questions of the same numbers.

How many tries until an event is 90% likely?

The last box on the page answers it for the chance you typed. For a 45% round it is 4 tries. For any triple on three dice it is 82 rolls, and for a named triple 497. A rarer event needs far more tries, roughly in proportion to how rare it is.

Can I use it for the chance of finishing a session ahead?

Only roughly. Choose “this many times or more” and type the wins you would need. If a win returned twice the stake, with no fee and equal stakes, 3 wins in 5 rounds at 45% would do it: 40.7%. A fee or uneven payouts change the sum, and the expected-loss calculator on the games page handles them properly.

Does the tool assume each try is separate from the last?

Yes. It uses one chance for every try and treats each as fresh, so a loss does not change the next try. That fits three dice rolled again each round. It does not fit anything where the chance shifts as you go, and we could not read how any Shree Win round is made, so the assumption is the tool’s, not our claim.

Where do I find the chance to type for a Shree Win round?

On the rules or help screen of the game you play, if it has one. We could not read any game’s rules at the time of writing (8 October 2026), because they sit behind an account. If your screen states no chance, the calculator has nothing true to work from, and 45% is only the starting illustration.
